An Unforgettable Wednesday for Mumbai

Today I saw Maharashtra CM interview and felt that i have heard the same lines some years back from an another CM. Nothing has changed, a terrorist enjoys a 80 crore security in a jail and others are left vulnerable on streets.
It can only happen in my great INDIA.

If after some days people start going to their work and try to live a normal life, they (politicians) call it true Mumbai Spirit and try to hide their shame behind this spirit.
But i feel slowly and slowly people are losing that spirit and they are afraid from inside.

Ichimbia Park , Quito

Every year we celebrate Earth day in our own way like spreading the awareness about saving our earth or switching off the lights for one hour. This year our TCS Maitree team in Quito organsied a half day session, on a theme based on the 3 important R’s (REDUCE – REUSE – RECYCLE), with children from 7-16 years of age . To make kids understand the basic logic behind these 3 words, we have designed three games.

First game was on saving water, which will give them a idea of what REDUCE word actually implies. In this game the niƱos have to sit in a line, in such a way that each kid sits facing the back of other kid. There are two small buckets one is in the front of line which is filled with water and one in the end of line which is empty. There are some glasses given to kids and they have to transfer water to the last bucket glass by glass with minimum slippage.

The second game was on REUSE. As I have told you earlier, this event was in the park. So kids were given a chart paper and a gum and they have to make a big R on chart using the dry leaves found in the park. Nobody was allowed to pluck the leaves from trees. The team who completes this task in minimum possible time wins this round.

The third game was on RECYCLE concept. In this kids have to use something that is discarded by others and is generally considered as a waste product. In this task all children came with the idea of finding the waste mineral water plastics bottles and then cutting them a bit from their head and then they planted small plants/flowers in them. I think its a very nice idea as I have also seen my mother doing it quite often and that too not only with plastic bottles but also with other plastic pets which people generally throw away.

In the end scout leaders taught children about other important things regarding the environment and how these children can improve their lifestyle and save our MOTHER EARTH. I am happy to associate with the ecology club and Group centinals 10 as they are the one of the main organizers of this event in association with TCS Maitree group.

Group Centinelas Scout 10 work with Eurafasia college students and from TATA we bring mostly the children of TATA group employees. In all this makes the great combination of people working for a noble cause.

P.S – A specials thanks to Emma for helping me in understanding the local language.

Joined Ecology club in Quito !!

Here I told the group members about our Maitree Ecology Club in Mumbai and how we operate .
The issues they face are the same faced by us in INDIA eg. people appreciate ur work and they dont show up next time but Ecology club members here keep their spirits up like us.

Then we went to a Water musuem with the school kids (Age 7 -15) .They taught them how they(Ecuadorian Authorities) purify water and how the people can conserve it. In the musuem there were photographs and maps of the areas around quito depicting mountains, rivers and volcanos.
After the event i left the downtown Quito with Emma(Maitree HR) and Carlos. Then i got the taste of local people hospitality when they invited me for lunch at LCR near J W Marriot. Carlos Mother, an Ecology club Scout, asked me a lot of questions about India eg. the Scout movement, Mogli series, Local food and our culture etc.
It was a day that i will remember forever and it makes me remind of the lines "Athithi Devo Bhava". I think this is followed in many parts of the world.
The only bad thing in the day was that I have to go office and for locals here , working on weekends is no less than a crime :((

P.S -The water musuem was Yaku, Museu del Agua, Quito

2010 Diwali

After seeing the after effects of firecrackers, i think there should be EURO Emission norms for them also.

Tiger Print Butterflies

You can see max 10 ......20 ...50 butterflies at one place and at a particular time but i saw 100's of them.
All of them are flying around us in Sanjay Gandhi National Park (Nagla Block).
A rare moment indeed :))
